ELLIOT, A SOLDIER'S FUGUE
At 18, Lance Corporal Elliot Ortiz crossed over into Iraq.  At 19, he received a Purple Heart.  Now, back from active duty, Elliot is anointed a hometown hero.  As he comes to terms with his memories of war, he uncovers the military experiences of both his father and grandfather, discovering the delicate link that unites the Ortiz men across time.

PRESS
"Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue is that rare and rewarding thing: a theater work that succeeds on every level, while creating something new... Hudes combines a lyrical ear with a sophisticated sense of structure...  She already possesses a confident and arresting voice...  Without ever invoking current politics, Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue, manages to be a deeply poetic, touching, and often funny indictment of the war in Iraq." -The New York Times (read the full review)

"
Simple, poignant and achingly evocative...  both utterly realistic and profoundly moving." -Time Out New York

"A lush and evocative tone poem about the way the landscape of the soul is transformed by war."  -The Atlanta Journal Constitution (read the full review)
